Introducing our newest therapy graduate, Ms. Evelyn Thomas! Ms. Thomas admitted to Christian Care Center of Medina following a recent fall and general weakness. Upon admission, she was screened for skilled Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy services.
Ms. Thomas was eager to return to her prior level of function and get home as quickly as possible! She sought out exercises, interventions, and modifications to aid in increasing her independence. In doing so, Ms. Thomas was able to quickly surpass her goals and return to the community!
When asked about her experience at Christian Care Center of Medina, she states, “I didn’t think I would get back on my feet, but the therapy team here really helped me believe in myself and pushed me to get stronger!”

Mr. Dale Murrah was referred to our outpatient therapy services following a functional decline resulting in increased assistance with balance, safety, and mobility.
Upon evaluation, he presented with decreased dynamic balance, impaired safety awareness and decline in strength making it difficult for him to engage in community outings and social activities.
He was eager to engage in his individualized Physical Therapy treatment plan both inside and outside of the facility. At discharge, Mr. Murrah is now able to walk greater than 250 feet and engage in meaningful tasks like walking his dog.
We are proud of the hard work Mr. Murrah has put forth towards his plan of care! When asked about his experience with our outpatient therapy services, he states, “I really enjoyed getting stronger!”

Mr. Danny Gathings was a resident of Christian Care Center of Medina where he admitted to our Rehabilitation Center to participate in our inpatient program following a recent hospital stay as a result of a myasthenia gravis episode resulting in a decline in function. A myasthenia gravis episode is defined as a “neuromuscular disorder that leads to weakness of skeletal muscles.”
After overcoming increased neck discomfort, Mr. Gathings demonstrated improvements in strength and activity tolerance as well as self-care independence. While in Physical and Occupational Therapy, he made great strides towards his plan of care.
With his discharge in his future, Mr. Gathings applied significant determination to complete each of his goals with the ultimate one of returning home with his wife. He stated upon completion of therapy that “Therapy made a great impact on me.”

Ms. Goff admitted to Christian Care Center of Medina following a hospital stay due to new onset of decline in function limiting her ability to care for herself independently. She was determined to demonstrate improvements in functional strength, mobility, and activity tolerance to achieve the ultimate goal of returning home independently.
While engaging in our therapeutic services of Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy, she enhanced her balance and activity tolerance all while advancing her stability during functional tasks. Upon completion of therapy, she states, “This group really helped me. They took the time to listen to me and push me. I will remember you all!”

Upon evaluation, Mr. Graves presented with decreased dynamic balance, impaired safety awareness and decline in strength making it difficult for him to engage in community outings and social activities.
He was eager to engage in his individualized Physical Therapy treatment plan both inside and outside of the facility. At discharge, Mr. Graves is now able to walk greater than 500 feet, ascend/descend stair casings independently and engage in meaningful tasks like driving his vehicle again!
We are proud of the efforts Mr. Graves has shown towards his plan of care! When asked about his experience with our outpatient therapy services, he states, “The Therapy Team has provided me with the tools to be stronger and significantly decrease my risk for falling going forward. I sure am going to miss this group!”

This week we are thrilled to share a patient success story on Ms. Janice Rodgers as she returns home independently! Ms. Rodgers spent less than a month with our skilled rehab team addressing her strength, balance, and mobility deficits 6 days a week following the new onset of left hip pain. She worked extremely hard towards achieving her goals and we are proud to announce she has been thriving since returning home with her son.
Ms. Rodgers states, “The therapy team at Christian Care of Medina has helped me in more ways than just physically. You all have become my family, and I am thankful for the time you have invested in me!”

Please welcome, Deana Booher, our new Respiratory Therapist.
Deana is a graduate of Jackson State Community College and brings over 30 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
Deana currently resides in Trenton, TN with her husband and enjoys reading, crafts, riding motorcycles and spending time with her grandchildren.
Ms. Janet Bailey admitted to Christian Care Center of Medina after suffering a fall at home resulting in an ankle fracture. She was referred to our skilled rehabilitation facility due to new onset of pain, decreased dynamic balance and functional mobility.
Ms. Bailey participated in skilled Physical and Occupational Therapy six times a week for 4 weeks before returning home independently. She was able to exceed her short and long-term goals under our care despite her non-weight bearing status.
We are extremely proud of Ms. Bailey and her quick efforts to return home. Thank you for choosing Christian Care Center of Medina for your rehabilitation needs!

Tamekia has worked at Christian Care Center of Medina for one year and in healthcare twenty six years. She continually shows a “Commitment to Caring” by reassuring the families that their loved one will get the care they need. She also helps her team mates and has the determination and dedication to her job.
She stated that her motivation is having the heart and compassion in taking care of the elderly.
Tamekia shared that she likes working at Christian Care Center of Medina because of the love and respect the employees have for one another.
When asked what her most memorable experience was, she mentioned that one time a patient had passed away and their family member came and hugged her and told her how much their mother cared about her. She said she loved her and appreciated her taking care of her for that short time. That made her feel great!
Please welcome Donna Scott, our new Assistant Director of Nursing.
Donna has been a nurse for 12 years with experience in acute care, home health, long-term and skilled care as well as experience in care coordination, staffing and as an ADON.
Donna has been married to her husband for 22 years and has 4 children and one grandson. In her spare time, Donna enjoys traveling, attending football and baseball games, and spending time with family.
Ms. Flippen came to Christian Care Center of Medina to take advantage of our Outpatient Services through our Rehab Department. Ms. Flippen was evaluated by our skilled Physical Therapist to enhance her muscle strength, address gait abnormalities, and promote neuromotor control in order to thrive within the community.
Following four weeks of a tailored treatment plan specific to Ms. Flippen’s deficits, she was able to achieve all her goals including walking without an assistive device!
We are extremely proud of Ms. Flippen’s achievements!

Ms. Watson admitted to Christian Care Center of Medina following a hospital stay as a result of multiple falls at home resulting in an overall functional decline.
After overcoming strength impairments, balance deficits, and functional mobility decline, she made significant progress toward her personal goals. While in Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy, she improved her activity tolerance, self-care independence, safe decision-making skill set and progressed her independence with functional tasks.
With her impending discharge, she pushed to achieve each of her goals with the ultimate one being able to return home. Upon completion of her rehabilitative journey with us at Christian Care Center of Medina, she states, “I could not have come this far without the help of you all and the Lord!”
